Georgia Promise Scholarship and Once FAQs

What is the Georgia Promise Scholarship?
The Georgia Promise Scholarship is Georgia’s education savings account program, created in 2024 through Senate Bill 233 and administered by the Georgia Education Savings Authority (GESA). It lets eligible families use state funds for nonpublic education expenses, including private school and home study.
Who is eligible for the Georgia Promise Scholarship?
A student must either be a rising kindergartner or be currently enrolled in a Georgia public school for the prior two consecutive semesters. The student must also live in an eligible public school attendance zone, and a parent must have lived in Georgia for at least one year, with an exception for active-duty military. Families can confirm eligibility with the pre-screen tool at MyGeorgiaPromise.org.
How much funding does a Georgia Promise Scholarship student receive?
For the 2026–27 school year, the scholarship provides up to $6,500 per eligible student, paid in four quarterly installments. GESA may withhold up to 5 percent for administrative purposes.

Yes. Curriculum, including supplemental materials required by the curriculum, is a qualified education expense when approved by GESA. English, language arts, and reading curriculum is an eligible Marketplace category.
