Teachers, families and kids love Once
While our district does have a very strong literacy plan that we are constantly reviewing and improving based on our data, the addition of the Once program as an intervention for Kindergarten has been a gamechanger for our students. We have seen a 9-point improvement on the DIBELS screener for Kindergarten with nothing else changing in our core curriculum and literacy plan other than this addition. We are so pleased with the results that we are extending this support to all students in 1st grade.
We have been very impressed not only with the results that we have seen to our students but the team that has supported us along the way. We look forward to continuing our partnership and have been so pleased with all of the things Once has to offer!
I've been using Once for the past 6 weeks with my son (age 4.5). Seeing his progress from Cycle 1 to 35 has been deeply satisfying. I love the product you've built.

Every child in America should experience Once. It would solve so many problems.
The impact of this work is reflected in our district's literacy outcomes. In August 2025, only 3% of incoming kindergarten students demonstrated kindergarten readiness. By the end of the school year (PM3), districtwide kindergarten proficiency had increased to 60%, out performing the state average and representing an 8-percentage-point improvement over the district's 2024–2025 PM3 results. While multiple initiatives contributed to this success, the Once Program served as a critical component of our comprehensive early literacy strategy by providing targeted, high-impact support to students most in need of intervention.
The combination of scripted, research-based lessons, individualized pacing, and weekly coaching support created a high-fidelity implementation model that produced measurable results. Feedback from school administrators, teachers, tutors, and families has been overwhelmingly positive, and the student growth data clearly demonstrate that the investment in high-impact tutoring is yielding meaningful returns. Based on the outcomes achieved, Okeechobee County views the Once Program as a highly successful component of our comprehensive literacy improvement efforts and a valuable strategy for addressing early reading gaps.

The way it was setup was helpful to myself. Putting away my Mac cut down on distractions. The fill in the blank notes are MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE as someone with crippling ADHD. I was excited to see those. I love taking paper notes, especially fill in the blank ones. The tickets helped me to raise my hand and answer questions, when I normally wouldn't of. As an elder millennial, I love a participation prize. The modeling was INCREDIBLE. Thank you so so much for everything. LITERALLY best PD ever.
The amount of explicit practice was the most helpful part of this seminar. Too often we are given PD with excellent strategies but never taught how to actually implement them with our current resources. The time that your team took to integrate connected phonation into our resource, as well as the time for us to create lessons is what really took this PD to the next level. I am now confident that this is something I will be able to implement with teachers next year. Your team was knowledgeable and positive. All of the new information was paced well and explained in a way that was clear and easy to understand. This was fantastic!
All of the opportunities to practice what was taught was extremely helpful. The presenters did a fantastic job of cultivating a safe and encouraging environment so even if I made a mistake, I didn't feel a sense of shame or failure.

She's 5.5, and we'll homeschool her from here on out. She's excited to be learning, although sometimes balks at repetition. Your system helps me be "by her side" rather than being the teacher role. "We" are learning to read, not me teaching her to read. With her, that seems to work better.

It has been my pleasure to work for Once and see how this program has helped children grow as readers. I enjoyed meeting and working with everyone that came to check in and offer advice and help. I hope the program continues next year.

I just completed the first chapter of Once with my 6 year old who has been struggling to find the motivation to read. He didn't want to go to bed, just kept wanting to keep going. He was like "this is so fun!!!"

Our 3yo got really into reading, in large part thanks to @once_reading. They have a really thoughtfully designed reading program, including these super cute physical books that our son is hooked on.

My coach was a key contributor to building my instructional confidence and helped me make high leverage tweaks as I needed them. I appreciate his weekly dose of positivity and encouragement.
It was something that gave my kids the little boost they needed while learning to read and I loved it. I just wish it was something that was implemented earlier in the year so our existing schedule had more time to build around it.
I enjoyed the simplicity of the program.
I absolutely love the Once Program! I strongly believe the students gained a strong basis for phonics with this program. It was a wonderful program that went hand in hand with what teachers did in the classroom with their students.
I loved working with my students and seeing how far they had progressed. Reading is such an important skill, and not having a solid foundation really sets the tone for their educational path. I loved the resources available — there were times I was unsure about a concept, but I was able to look at the instructional videos to gain a better understanding.
I 💗 Once! The program has helped my students become more confident with their sounds and words. The familiar format and fun characters have created a joyful learning environment. The intimacy of the program — the proximity and the daily interaction — has helped me form even better relationships and rapport with my students.
This is an excellent program that I wish we could have again, not just for kindergarten pupils but even for students in other grade levels who need help with the foundations of reading. With fidelity and consistency, a child can really read in a short period of time through this system.
As hesitant as I was in the beginning, I can honestly say it wasn't as bad as I thought. I believe my students made tremendous progress throughout the year and they were excited to put in the work. The story was entertaining as well as educational. My coach always pushed us to push our kids a little harder, in turn making them more independent and giving them the confidence they needed to succeed.
The Once program is a great addition to the instruction students are already receiving in their classroom. It was nice to see the students show significant growth and enthusiasm with the program.

Here at our school we have seen great growth in students participating in this program. We are excited to implement it next year. One area that is challenging is finding the staff to work with the students since it is a one-on-one intervention.

The intimacy of the program — the proximity and the daily interaction — has helped me form even better relationships and rapport with my students.
The Once program is a great addition to the instruction students are already receiving in their classroom. It was nice to see the students show significant growth and enthusiasm with the program.
I love that it's scripted for teachers. I also like the verbiage (i.e., "say it fast") and like that I can use it during my instruction during the day.

The amount of explicit practice was the most helpful part of this seminar. Too often we are given PD with excellent strategies but never taught how to actually implement them with our current resources. The time that your team took to integrate connected phonation into our resource, as well as the time for us to create lessons is what really took this PD to the next level. I am now confident that this is something I will be able to implement with teachers next year. Your team was knowledgeable and positive. All of the new information was paced well and explained in a way that was clear and easy to understand. This was fantastic!

My child and I finished cycle 10 yesterday so we're on our way. I've taught my three older kids to read, and I'm excited for how this is helping with my youngest's enunciation already. She's 5.5, and we'll homeschool her from here on out. She's excited to be learning, although sometimes balks at repetition. Your system helps me be "by her side" rather than being the teacher role. "We" are learning to read, not me teaching her to read. With her, that seems to work better.

I absolutely love the Once Program! I strongly believe the students gained a strong basis for phonics with this program. It was a wonderful program that went hand in hand with what teachers did in the classroom with their students.
I loved working with my students and seeing how far they had progressed. Reading is such an important skill, and not having a solid foundation really sets the tone for their educational path. I loved the resources available — there were times I was unsure about a concept, but I was able to look at the instructional videos to gain a better understanding.

Here at our school we have seen great growth in students participating in this program. We are excited to implement it next year. One area that is challenging is finding the staff to work with the students since it is a one-on-one intervention.
