Science of Reading–aligned
Explicit instruction moves carefully from phonemic knowledge and letter sounds toward independent reading.
Once at Home (School-Managed)

Parents are the delivery model
More instructional capacity—without more hires
Parents already want to help their children read. Once gives them the sequence, language, materials, and support to turn that commitment into effective one-to-one practice.

A different delivery model
Most families want to help their child read. The hard part is knowing exactly what to teach, what to say, and what should come next.
Once turns that motivation into structured instruction. Parents follow a carefully sequenced script online while teaching their child directly. No lesson planning. No teaching certification. And no child left alone with an app.
What participating families receive
Every part of Once is designed to make explicit instruction easier for a parent to deliver and engaging for a young child to receive.

Online guidance, offline reading
Parents open the lesson script on a laptop, tablet, or phone, then teach their child directly.
Physical decodable books give children a chance to apply the sounds and words they have learned away from the screen. The stories follow the instructional sequence, so practice stays within reach.

The Once foundation
Explicit instruction moves carefully from phonemic knowledge and letter sounds toward independent reading.
Every session is focused on one child, at the child’s current place in the sequence.
Once has completed four ESSA Tier 3 studies and one ESSA Tier 2 study, with an ESSA Tier 1 study in progress.
