Instructional coaching for schools

Give every instructor a coach in their corner

Once coaches review recorded reading sessions, meet one-to-one with each instructor, and help school staff build the skills to deliver strong early-reading instruction.

A year of guided practice

20hours on average
of Science of Reading coaching for each school-based instructor.
Weekly, 30-minute meetings give instructors focused feedback, time to practice upcoming skills, and a consistent person to turn to with questions.

Coaching that builds instructional skill

Support that helps school staff become stronger reading instructors

Feedback grounded in real lessons

Coaches review recorded sessions so guidance is specific to what the instructor and student actually did together.

A private place to practice

Instructors can rehearse upcoming skills, ask questions, and make small adjustments before the next lesson.

Professional learning across the year

Weekly meetings build practical Science of Reading knowledge while instructors continue serving students every day.

How weekly coaching works

Review what happened. Practice what comes next.

Each instructor has a direct coaching relationship with someone who knows the Once curriculum and can connect feedback to the students in front of them.

Before the meeting

A coach reviews a recorded session

Specific, observation-based feedback

The coach sees how the instructor delivers the lesson, responds to the student, and uses the curriculum. That makes the conversation concrete from the start.

During the meeting

The instructor practices and plans

30 minutes each week

Coach and instructor reflect on student data, rehearse upcoming skills, and choose practical adjustments the instructor can use in the next lesson.
