Coaching

Coaching is core to the Once program.

Weekly coaching of the school support staff who provide instruction is the heart and soul of the Once program. Once has a national network of instructional coaches who review video recordings of each instructor and provide 30 minutes of individual coaching every week (plus email/text support as needed). During coaching sessions, coaches help instructors practice the skills they are going to teach and reflect on their students’ data to ensure that each instructor is teaching effectively.

After one year of delivering Once, school-based instructors receive an average of 20 hours of coaching in the Science of Reading, helping them become highly effective reading instructors.
